A MEMOIR

On a warmer-than-usual February day in 2010, my wife called me at work to tell me her scheduled c-section for our third child had been moved up by ten days, changing our plans finalized just weeks before. Thankfully, I’d already completed the new nursery in our small home. Later that evening, a tragic medical accident to our newborn forced me to pivot into unimaginable roles: from breadwinner to caregiver, to advocate and plaintiff. The life I’d always envisioned, worked toward and dreamed about, was suddenly and impossibly out of reach.
